On December 2, 2023, Saturday, SERENDIPITY | MR.DAVYUAN David Yuan’s Solo Exhibition in Tokyo was grandly opened in SOMSOC GALLERY, Shibuya City, Tokyo, Japan. The Exhibition shows a variety of artworks and limited editions, and attracts the attention of art lovers and collectors from all over the world.
The Exhibition presents signature canvas prints of Tokyo limited edition, each of which is a one-of-the-kind, offering a unique value of collection. In addition, it also launches signature Giclée prints of Tokyo limited edition, which are quite rare and hence become the focus of collectors.
One of the highlights of the Exhibition is MR.DAVYUAN sculptures of Tokyo limited edition, demonstrating a unique artistic style and personality. Moreover, the Exhibition also brings a series of sculptures co-created by David Yuan and other artists to the audience, entitled “MR.DAVYUAN & ARTISTS”.
The series of sculptures co-created by David Yuan and other artists includes an art installation co-created by Mr. Qian Lihuai, a representative inheritor of Chinese bamboo weaving and bamboo weaving artist, a UV painting MR.DAVYUAN x Kő Ferenc coming all the way from Hungary to Tokyo, and the most important of all the artwork MR.DAVYUAN x Dian Saku. Busy working on it at the opening event, Dian Saku integrates the concept of her series of works Miss Unhappy, applying propylene and composite materials, to showcase a unique and exquisite artistic style, and an impressive presentation of artistic collisions and sparks.
In addition, the Exhibition brings DAVORB art commodities to Tokyo of Japan for the very first time, including MR.DAVYUAN plush toys, MR.DAVYUAN 3D pins, DAVMOON garage kits: Sparkling Everyday & I AM A FRIEND HUGGING YOU WARM, DAVMOON canvas bags, DAVMOON M.DANSINGLE tees, etc. All these items are available in limited quantities and could be purchased at the Exhibition. This Exhibition has attracted visitors from all over the world, many of whom came to know the image of MR.DAVYUAN for the first time on the opening day and then fell in love with this unique artistic figure.
SPEAKER MR.DAVYUAN｜MR.DAVYUAN Hi-Fi Bluetooth Speaker is a featured product in collaboration with the IF AUDIO STUDIO that blends audio technology with artistic design. This speaker uses selected downpipes hair originally imported from Japan, fashion, soft and comfortable, adding a sense of warmth and intimacy to the music. Other than its elegant appearance and comfortable feel, SPEAKER MR.DAVYUAN also carries characteristics of artistry and interactivity. Impressive design and high artistic value, SPEAKER MR.DAVYUAN looks like a work of art that offers special experience beyond traditional speakers.
On the opening day, artist David Yuan flew from Beijing to Tokyo for the event. He shared his creative inspiration and artistic ideas with the audience and visitors. Although it was the first time for most visitors to come to know MR.DAVYUAN, they felt it was quite easy for them to love this image. The Exhibition creates a fantastic space and draws wide attention of friends from all over the world, with diversified artwork pieces and limited edition products, to establish a bridge for the communication of art and culture.
Exhibition Overview
It is artist David Yuan’s third visit to Japan.
And his creation MR.DAVYUAN’s first visit to Japan.
The reason that David Yuan created MR.DAVYUAN comes from his cognition: loneliness is the essence of humankind, and people do not have to be afraid of it. When the loners meet a soul that resonates with them, or they might have more courage and calm to face loneliness, they may even have fun in loneliness.
MR.DAVYUAN, a gorilla-shaped image, stands a human pose. He is the intermediate state between man and nature, a common possibility between any two loners, an observer of the world, and also a thinker.
Loners need to travel, so he comes to Japan this time.
Loners like to imagine everything, hence there come out all the images of this Exhibition.

MR. DAVYUAN, as defined by the artist, is:
“Body towards the earth, thoughts towards the sky;
though the face is impassive, the brain is flying”.
It is intended to represent each one of us,
saying to ourselves and to someone who shares our feelings:
