Recently, Mr. Andy Lau’s first large-scale art exhibition, 1/ X ANDY LAU X ART EXHIBITION, was grand open in the FREESPACE Art Park, West Kowloon Cultural District, Hong Kong. The Exhibition runs for 16 days until September 9. It is Lau’s first public display of his art, and is also a new attempt at his acting career. The works in this Exhibition are co-created by Andy Lau and a number of contemporary artists with different styles, including Mr. Lin Yusi, Ms. Xu Zhuoer, Mr. Huang Yulong, and STICKYLINE designers Mr. Mic Leong and Mr. Soilworm Lai.

The creative team has taken Andy Lau as the starting point, drawn inspiration from Lau himself, his classic performing arts and concerts, innovated a variety of art forms, formed multiple art media works containing oil paintings, large-scale installations, sculptures, calligraphy, ink paintings, geometric paper sculptures, crystal installations, etc., and finally demonstrated a unique art space. Taking Andy Lau’s acting career as a clue, the space displays a touching artistic path while connecting artworks of different forms and themes, and offers the audience an immersive artistic experience.

“Huang Yulong is the key player in this Exhibition.” Andy Lau once mentioned that Huang Yulong had provided a variety of artistic styles and direction for the Exhibition. With the joint efforts of all participants, the Exhibition finally breaks through the traditional constraints and creates a unique art space, allowing the audience to have a deeper understanding of their inner world.

Huang Yulong’s sculpture artwork Sharing, inspired from Hip Hop and street dance, presents a progressive palm shape, hinting Andy Lau’s passion and sharing spirit for music and art. This piece of artwork is the crystallization of the communication and cooperation between the two artists, and also symbolizes Andy Lau’s emotional feedback to his fans and the society. It is reported that Huang Yulong worked with Andy Lau in 2018 to create a sculpture Share the Love, and once became the art director of Andy Lau’s concert.

While talking about working with Lau again, Huang Yulong said that it was a great honor of his career, and in the process of co-creation, in addition to that sculpture, he worked with Lau to create a moon-shaped artwork, which became another unforgettable experience. In the cooperation, he discovered another image of Andy Lau which is different from his acting career, and also was greatly impressed by his unique artistic style and creative thinking.
